There is a need in the international solidarity movement for a place where we can meet each other and learn from what the different groups around the world are doing, get inspired from one another and also reconnect to the Saharawi struggle for liberation.
We are organizing a bi-yearly conference in the refugee camps where we invite the solidarity movement, politicians, journalists, activists, influencers and Saharawi civil society to meet, discuss, inspire and network. We learn from each other get to know each other and strengthen each others work for a free Western Sahara
The first edition of this conference was organized in January 2025 and saw some 70 people from 16 countries attending as well as many Saharawi organizations and activists. The feedback and response from the conference was overwhelmingly positive
Theory of Change
By creating a recurring space in the refugee camps for the movement we address two needs. The first is that the international solidarity movement will have a space where they can meet, plan, coordinate and learn from each other which increases effectiveness, coordination and energizes the movement. The second is that we have a recurring event where we can refer new people that are curious about Western Sahara to visit. After every lecture, event, documentary screening etc we can encourage people to go to the camps and join the conference .
Bringing people to the refugee camps is the best way to solidify their engagement in the cause and make them into long term allies. The more people we can bring there the bigger we can grow the movement and the closer we get to the liberation of Western Sahara

We’re looking for more people who can help us with outreach – inviting all the different stakeholders including politicians, organizations, the solidarity movement, journalists etc. We need help with applying for funding, organizing the workshops, the program and all things that goes in to creating a conference in refugee camps in the Sahara desert
